Under the new direction of Mr. Timothy Coyle replacing Mr. John Toomey, the boys varsity basketball squad had adjustments to make from last season. As the head coach created plays and alternated the line-up, the team was forced to mesh their old ways with the new.

   "We are learning a lot of new plays and reusing some from last season. Once we practice everything, the new plays go over a lot easier. The adjustment to the new coach has gone over smoothly with all of us all having one common goal-- winning. We all work hard to do our part," senior Andrew Runkle said.

   Three capatins, seniors Anthony Yacobacci, Runkle and junior Timothy McFarland, were selected to lead their team while acting as role-models for the younger players. Assisting the squad in making their way to victory, the captains found their hands full of responsibility and hard work.

   The boys began the season off slowly with a 0-4 record. Picking up the pace, they managed to grab a few wins. The squad was determined to keep looking ahead throughout the ups and downs. As the season progressed to the last game, the squad ended with a record of 9-16.

   "We struggled in the beginning of the season, then we started to get our act together, but overall I felt we could have performed better," senior Mike Quirk said. To fill the spots of the seniors from last year, four underclassmen were brought up to varsity to help the roster. Eric Hampford, Jake Wartella, Dan Quirk and Ryan Pilconis gained experience early in their career.

   While the team had a tough rebuilding year, underclassmen learned first hand what it takes to play with the big boys.
