"Rebuilding Season"
Team adjust after loss of talented veterans. Losing four of their
five starters, the boys' basketball team started off the season slowly. Although the Tide's record was not enough to propel
the team into any post season play, the Tide earned some honorable distinctions.
In the first ever Tip-off Tournament, the Tide fell to Wilson in the first game. This talented
squad came back to down Northampton which earned the team a third place ranking in the tournament.
Although the Tide didn't show a winning record, wins over Tamaqua, Mount Carmel
and Pine Grove kept the team alive in league competition. " Losing was difficult, but despite that the leadership of
our seniors and the progression of our underclassmen made it a season we can learn from and move forward as a program,"
said Mr. John Toomey, head coach.
William White and
Mike Yaworsky were the only two returning players. Both helped to lead the Tide in scoring. Thomas LeMasters, a senior transfer
from Tamaqua, was also a key contributor to the Tide during the season both offensively and defensively.
From the sidelines: The Tide lose eight veteran players to graduation. Tom LeMasters
led the team by scoring 15 three pointers. Mike Yaworsky led the team in scoring by netting a total 236 points.
