Pottsville High School completed its most successful season since 1942 by winning sixteen and losing eight games. The team was Coached by Chester Rogowicz, assisted by Earl Unger, who had charge of the J.V. 's. The Crimson's season had two brilliant victories -- one over a strong Allentown Central team, the other over our traditional rival, the "Mountaineers" of Hazleton. The Vikings of Allentown Central had a winning streak of twelve games only to see their colors lowered for the second time in as many years.

   The team tied for first place with Allentown in the fisrt half of the East Penn League. At a hard-fought game at Rockne Hall at Allentown, Pottsville was defeated by Allentown, 47-36. Pottsville High claimed the top scorer in the East Penn League when McClure captured the title, scoring 129 points. McCure was high scorer of the Crimson Tide with 324 points, followed by Kelly 164, Burch 117, Harvey 115, and Campbell 65.

   This year's varsity was composed of McClure, Harvey, Campbell, Bretz, Buck, Koch, Minchoff, Kelly, Burch, Davis, and Hausenauer. The first seven named will be lost to graduation. Jack Harvey and "Slim" McClure were co-captains of the brilliant Pottsville High School team.

   The Crimson Tide scored a total of 929 points for the season with their opponents scoring a total of 760 points for the season. Pottsville averaged 39 points per games with their opponents averaging 32 points per game.
